Every Action Counts
The Every Action Counts campaign was launched during the 2023/24 academic year with a focus on encouraging students and staff to lead in an array of every day actions to reduce our collective environmental impact.

Reducing our carbon footprint together

As part of our commitment to sustainability, The University launched the Every Action Counts campaign. This campaign aligns with our strategic goal of reducing our carbon footprint, a mission detailed in our comprehensive sustainability strategy.

Climate Week 2023

The Every Action Counts campaign kicked off during Climate Week in October 2023, marking the beginning of a university-wide effort to engage staff and students in reducing energy consumption. The campaign’s core message is simple: by making small, conscious choices, we can collectively make a significant impact on our environment.

Sustainable heating

Throughout the academic year, the campaign highlights specific periods to focus our efforts. During Climate Week, we raise awareness about the importance of energy conservation and provide practical tips for reducing energy use in daily activities. As winter approaches, the campaign emphasises sustainable heating practices, encouraging everyone to adopt efficient ways to stay warm without excessive energy consumption.

Christmas Switch Off

The Christmas switch-off is another key component of the campaign. We encourage the university community to power down non-essential devices before the holiday break, contributing to energy savings.

Sustainability Week

Each year in March we celebrate the University Sustainability Week where we welcome organisations onto campus and organise activities to highlight sustainable practices students and staff can adopt.

We are grateful to all the staff and students who actively participate in the Every Action Counts campaign. The enthusiasm and commitment demonstrate that together, we can make a meaningful difference. By embracing these small actions, we are collectively paving the way towards a greener, more sustainable future.
