The UK border and immigration system is becoming digital.
UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) are changing the way in which individuals prove their immigration permission to be in the UK. The new system will provide a new digital online record of your immigration status and conditions of your permission to enter or remain in the UK known as an eVisa which can be shared with others, such as education providers, employers etc. This is for those who will enter the UK for longer than 6 months.
The benefits of eVisas include:
- they are secure and cannot be lost, stolen or tampered with, unlike a physical document
- you will not need to wait for, or collect, a physical document after your application is decided – you might still need to provide biometric information in person, and we will tell you if you need to do this
- it will be quicker and easier to prove your status at the UK border, and share your status with third parties like employers and landlords
To get access to your eVisa, you need to create a UKVI online account if you have not already done so. Once you have access to your eVisa, you can generate a “share code” to provide your immigration status to others. When you register with the university, you will need to provide your Share Code as part of the process so that we can enrol you.
