IoT Hardware Security Test Framework
The collaboration work has developed through an existing Data Lab funded project, and has shown how data science can be used to discover security vulnerabilities within IoT devices. Currently the team have showcased the cracking of 128-bit AES encryption within 20 minutes, though power analysis from a device, and which was demo’ed live at an International Conference and published as a journal paper. This project will advance the work and gather a large number of data points in order to discover and identifying vulnerabilities that could be used by investigators (along with it being used by device manufacturers to assess the risk of their devices). This will include side channel analysis through power analysis, radio emissions, and other related side channels.
