An international multi-disciplinary training network on ageism
The proposed research is a direct response to the European Commission's Active and Healthy Ageing initiative, with an
overarching goal to improve the quality of life of older people. By pursuing 15 different, but highly related research projects,
we aim to achieve the following scientific and societal goals: a) to explore the aetiology, manifestation and consequences of
ageism in the workforce to help Europe to realize its stated goal of extending working life; b) to address ageism in relation to
access to goods and services to enhance solidarity between the generations, improve the care provided to older adults and
extend healthy life years, and c)to promote an age-friendly society, which advocates for equality and helps older adults to realize their full potential.
