The 21st century public library in England and Scotland: epistemic, community and political roles in the public sphere
  Leo Appleton's PhD research explores the impact of libraries on citizenship. He is based in the Centre for Social Informatics, where his Director of Studies is Professor Hazel Hall.

Leo is registered as a part-time student. He fits his study around his work as a member of the senior management team within the library services at Liverpool John Moores University.
