Dr Timothy Olawumi wins top award for research excellence
Dr. Timothy Olawumi was the recipient of the π‘πžπ¬πžπšπ«πœπ‘ π„π±πœπžπ₯π₯𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 π€π°πšπ«π at the recent 𝐁𝐈𝐌 π€πŸπ«π’πœπš 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧 π€π°πšπ«ππ¬ 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 (out of the 289 nominations received).

The Research Excellence Award is awarded to β€œπ‘Žπ‘› 𝑒π‘₯π‘π‘’π‘π‘‘π‘–π‘œπ‘›π‘Žπ‘™ π‘–π‘›π‘‘π‘–π‘£π‘–π‘‘π‘’π‘Žπ‘™ π‘œπ‘“ π΄π‘“π‘Ÿπ‘–π‘π‘Žπ‘› 𝑑𝑒𝑠𝑐𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝑖𝑛 π΄π‘π‘Žπ‘‘π‘’π‘šπ‘–π‘Ž π‘€β„Žπ‘œ β„Žπ‘Žπ‘  π‘‘π‘’π‘£π‘’π‘™π‘œπ‘π‘’π‘‘ π‘Žπ‘›π‘‘ π‘π‘œπ‘šπ‘π‘™π‘’π‘‘π‘’π‘‘ π‘Ÿπ‘’π‘ π‘’π‘Žπ‘Ÿπ‘β„Ž π‘€π‘œπ‘Ÿπ‘˜π‘  π‘–π‘›π‘£π‘œπ‘™π‘£π‘–π‘›π‘” π‘‘β„Žπ‘’ π‘‘π‘’π‘π‘™π‘œπ‘¦π‘šπ‘’π‘›π‘‘ π‘œπ‘“ π‘–π‘›π‘›π‘œπ‘£π‘Žπ‘‘π‘–π‘£π‘’ π‘‘π‘–π‘”π‘–π‘‘π‘Žπ‘™ π‘‘π‘’π‘β„Žπ‘›π‘œπ‘™π‘œπ‘”π‘–π‘’π‘  π‘Žπ‘›π‘‘ π‘π‘Ÿπ‘œπ‘π‘’π‘ π‘ π‘’π‘  π‘‘π‘œπ‘€π‘Žπ‘Ÿπ‘‘π‘  π‘‘π‘Ÿπ‘–π‘£π‘–π‘›π‘” π‘‘β„Žπ‘’ 𝑏𝑒𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 π‘Žπ‘›π‘‘ π‘–π‘›π‘“π‘Ÿπ‘Žπ‘ π‘‘π‘Ÿπ‘’π‘π‘‘π‘’π‘Ÿπ‘’ π‘–π‘›π‘‘π‘’π‘ π‘‘π‘Ÿπ‘¦'𝑠 π‘‘π‘Ÿπ‘Žπ‘›π‘ π‘“π‘œπ‘Ÿπ‘šπ‘Žπ‘‘π‘–π‘œπ‘›".

Dr Olawumi said: β€œIt was a great honour to have won this prestigious award. When I heard from the organisers (BIM Africa) that they received a total of 289 nominations from 54 African countries and that the jury judged my nomination for the award as an outstanding one, I felt so elated and encouraged at the same time. I would like to thank those who nominated me for this award. Special thanks to colleagues and collaborators and my family. They all contributed one way or the other to this latest feat!”

Dr Olawumi’s research is interdisciplinary in nature, with an emphasis on applying digital technologies, sustainability principles and data-driven techniques to construction management and engineering issues.
