Biography
I've been a digital media professional for over 20 years.
I started working as a Research Technician in the School of Computing in January 2022, where I'm also school lead on sustainability.
I've led over 150 digital design projects for clients in the business, education and third sectors and for many years I ran a digital media consultancy business (which still operates on a needs basis).
From 2008-2016 I was engaged extensively with EU research networks via Future and Emerging Technologies (FP7) pro-active initiative coordination actions: FoCAS | Awareness | Pervasive Adaptation, all of which were scored 'excellent' by the EC.
From July 2016 to December 2021 I worked as Senior Web Content Producer (0.3) for the Research, Innovation & Enterprise Office - working across the university to improve both the user-experience (UX) and visibility of research outputs.
In October 2016, with Professor David Benyon I began researching the inter-play of permaculture and digital technology as Research Fellow in the School of Computing (0.2). This led to creating and directing The Lions' Gate permaculture-inspired interactive gardens project at Merchiston campus. The Lions' Gate was part of a Blended Spaces Impact Case Study that scored four stars in REF 2021, denoting quality that is world-leading in originality, significance and rigour.
For many years I was the designer and Web Manager of the Robert Louis Stevenson Website.
I advise across university, business and third sectors on digital media solutions.
In praxis my craft involves - creative direction, design thinking, media production, co-operative working and project management.
