Paul Connelly

California

Malcolm in a kilt

I was brought up in Edinburgh and graduated from Edinburgh Napier in 1985 with a BSc in Biological Sciences.

After graduating I initially worked in the labs of the old Royal Infirmary. After a few years there, I moved into lab sales which facilitated a move to London. I then moved to the South Coast before hopping across the pond to California, where I have been since 2002.

I am fortunate enough to have travelled the world for work, clocking up far too many airmiles. I’m now based in the Los Angeles area and work for a plastics manufacturing company.

When not working I enjoy the great outdoors of California: hiking, running, biking and swimming. We have the San Gabriel mountains in our backyard and the Pacific Ocean a short drive away. We also have a local British pub where we can speak in the dialects of football and sarcasm.

I look forward to meeting up with other Edinburgh Napier alumni!

Amos P Green

Kentucky and Georgia

My name is Amos Green and I was born and raised in Somerset, Kentucky.  In 2009 I made my first of many trips to Scotland, completing a semester exchange at Napier Uni and forging many relationships in a short span of time.   Two years later, following graduation from the University of Kentucky - College of Engineering - I was invited back to Edinburgh Napier as one of three Saltire Scholars to complete my MSc in Transportation Engineering for which I earned the University Medal.   In 2014, I relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where I currently serve as the Vice President of Customer Success for QGenda, an Enterprise IT solution in the Healthcare space. I'm an active member of Atlanta's St. Andrews Society as well as the Kentucky Colonels.   Travel has always been a priority, and my wife and I have travelled to all seven continents, most recently participating in an expedition to Antarctica as well as a return to Auld Reekie to compete in the Edinburgh Marathon. We also plan to visit Central/South Africa exploring Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa by rail. I'm excited to foster a continued connection with Edinburgh Napier and welcome the opportunity to interact with ENU alumni across both Kentucky and Georgia!

Kayla Kramer

Atlanta

Kayla Kramer

My name is Kayla Kramer, and I am a 2013 graduate of Edinburgh Napier University, where I received my MSc in Marketing with Festival and Event Management. Prior to that, I completed my undergraduate degree at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, and spent a semester studying in the Netherlands.

I currently live and work in Atlanta, and recently began a new role as Operations Specialist – Tour Manager at Sixthman, where I help produce multi-day music festivals onboard Norwegian Cruise Line cruise ships!

I’ve always been a huge fan of live music and traveling, which is what I spend most of my free time (and money!) on. Most recently, I have visited Greece and Turkey, and next year I will add a number of Caribbean countries, Mexico, and Croatia to my list. When I’m not traveling for pleasure or work, you can find me at home with my boyfriend, my dog, Georgia, and my cat, Eddie.

I look forward to connecting with other ENU Alumni in Atlanta and beyond!

Nicole Krempasky
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Scranton

I’m Nicole Krempasky, a native of northeast Pennsylvania, though spent my undergraduate university days and the early parts of my career living in the Philadelphia area.

After taking a few years off to relocate back to my hometown and start a family, I enrolled in Edinburgh Napier’s International Journalism Master’s degree program with the hopes of restarting my writing career.

I completed my degree in 2020 and now work as a marketing specialist concentrating in content creation at Penn Foster, writing blogs and helping to share student stories.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Ricardo, and daughter, Clara, as well as my two rescue dogs, Rosie and Lucy. I also love baking, making homemade pasta, watching the Premier League, and traveling to Scotland whenever time (and finances) allow.

I spend many weekends in Philadelphia visiting family, and really look forward to welcoming, connecting with, and meeting Napier alumni in the region.

Leanne McQueen

New York

Leanne McQueen

Hello, my name is Leanne McQueen, and I graduated from ENU in 2001 with a Diploma in Mental Health Nursing.

After graduating I moved to New York City and have now been in Brooklyn for over 20 years, overseeing group homes for people with autism and challenging behaviours. As you can imagine, there’s never a dull moment! I met my husband Cyrus here in NYC and we now have a young daughter who keeps us on our toes!

The ENU Alumni Network allows me to connect with those that have similar experiences to me and are willing to support each other in any way they can. Sometimes, when you live far from home, you need familiar things. I remember being very homesick once, so I reached out to one of my alumni connections. We met in Manhattan for coffee and talked about Edinburgh for hours, where we used to go, our favourite places and shared funny stories. It was all I needed to get back on track.
My advice to anyone graduating is to reach out to everyone you can and build connections. We’ve all been where you are!

I look forward to meeting ENU alumni in NYC! Please don’t hesitate to contact me via the alumni team. And, if you are in town, please join us at the annual Tartan Day Parade in NYC where all things Scottish are celebrated and paraded up 6th Avenue – it’s an event not to be missed!
