Merchiston Campus
Merchiston campus is home to Edinburgh Napier University's School of Computing, Engineering and the School of Arts & Creative Industries. Here you will find the Jack Kilby Computing Centre, the Edinburgh Napier Students’ Association, a computer games lab, newsroom, TV, radio and photography studios, along with soundproof industry-standard music studios.
The Jack Kilby Computing Centre is open 24/7 during term-time and has approximately 500 computers for our students to use, and you will also find a laptop loan service.
The Tapes store is your on campus stationary and supply store. This is a one stop shop for all the bits and bobs you may need as a student in the creative arts; from spray paint to stationary, it’s all in there.
Our students can pick up a fresh, sustainably sourced tea or coffee at our espresso lab or grab breakfast or lunch at the Triangle cafe.
Merchiston campus is situated in the heart of Morningside, an easy commute from our student accommodation.
We are ranked the number one modern university in the UK for Computer Science and English (Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023) and we rank within the top five of all UK universities for Film production, Photography and Journalism (Guardian University Guide 2023).
Sighthill Campus
Edinburgh Napier University's Sighthill campus is home to the School of Applied Sciences and School of Health & Social Care. It is also where ENGAGE is based – the University gym, open to students, staff and members of the public.
Sighthill campus is well-served by public transport to and from the city centre. There are also a number of cycle paths in the area and bike storage facilities on site.
Sighthill has a number of facilities that include life-like hospital wards, a clinical skills suite and sports science labs. This includes an environmental chamber to simulate high-altitude conditions and biotech labs.
The campus has a five-storey Learning Resource Centre which has a café, library and IT facilities. The Learning Resource Centre is open from 8am-9pm Monday to Friday and can be accessed from 9am-5pm on weekends.
We have an espresso lab where you can grab a coffee or a bite to eat. There is also the option of a cafeteria where students can purchase breakfast and lunch. We have vegan, vegetarian and carnivorous options depending on the dietary needs of our students and staff.
At Edinburgh Napier university, 95.7% of our undergraduate students and 96.7% of our postgraduate students are in work or further study 15 months after graduation (HESA 2017/18) and we were the only Scottish university to be shortlisted for the 2022 Times Higher Education’s prestigious University of the Year award
Craiglockhart Campus
Home to Edinburgh Napier University's Business School, Craiglockhart campus blends the old and the new. This campus was originally the site of a hydropathic centre before being converted into a war rehabilitation centre for officers at the onset of World War One. The site was then taken over and converted into a convent for the Society of the Sacred Heart and made a teaching college.
Craiglockhart is set within attractive grounds overlooking Edinburgh, facilities include 200- and 400-seat lecture theatres and language and multimedia labs. This campus is home to our innovation and Enterprise centre. The Lindsay Stewart Lecture Theatre – affectionately known as ‘The Egg’ is iconic to Craiglockhart campus and has incredible views of the city. It can also be used for events and conferences.
At Craiglockhart, our library, along with the Younger Suit has several additional study spaces and over 100 computers. This means it is the perfect place to study or catch up on coursework when you are in between lectures or tutorials.
Bright Red Triangle is our business incubator, and the Bright Red Ventures consultancy are both available on this campus and at Merchiston. Bright Red Triangle is available for all Edinburgh Napier students, staff and alumni. The team supports budding entrepreneurs who want to build a business.
